Jennifer Bowman

Jennifer Bowman, DNP, PMHNP, LLC, is a board-certified, psychiatric, mental health nurse practitioner with over 27 years of combined nursing experience. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Business Administration from Robert Morris University (RMU), and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice from RMU in 2014.

Jennifer is passionate about providing quality, compassionate and comprehensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults. Her primary focus areas are depression, anxiety, mood disorders and ADHD. Helping females who struggle with mental health issues during pregnancy is also an area of expertise. She follows evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition in the treatment process.

Creating an individualized care plan which values client involvement, interprofessional collaboration and evidence-based practice is her approach. Educating patients and providing supportive care throughout the treatment process aids in reaching the goal for patients to leave her office feeling like they have the correct medication and recognize the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles and coping skills to apply to life.

Prior to becoming a practitioner, the majority of Jennifer’s career was spent at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh in the inpatient/outpatient settings. While there, she worked in several areas including cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, case management, general medicine and organ transplant. As a lung transplant coordinator, she discovered the importance of psychiatric and supportive care for patients during this difficult time. Developing rapport with patients became so natural to her, and she realized how valuable it was to the recovery process. Her experience in this role inspired her to pursue a career as a psychiatric mental health practitioner.

In addition to her professional experience, she enjoys reading, exercising, skiing, traveling and spending time with friends, family and her two boxer puppies.
